Windows XP vs Windows 7

Except for the fact that you cannot eat RAM. ;)

The other issue STARS forgot to include is that most (nearly all) versions of Windows XP are no longer supported. So as new technology requirements, threats etc arise, you will be not recieving the updates. Plus, Windows 7 is faster and simply better than the 10 year old OS that is Win XP. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-gb&C2=1173

LoL support and updates?

The last time I used support was...never lol.
As for the updates,I don't use them at all too lol.My system is working perfectly so why should I update xD.

By the way no offence to anyone, but only morons update their system with EVERY SINGLE update which comes out.And they keep updating it more more and more until they completely slow down their system so much or something even worse such as BSOD at random times or even OS not working at all.
And when that happens to them, they don't understand why that happened lmao!

Update(s) is/are used to fix a specific problem(s),but ONLY IF YOU HAVE THOSE PROBLEM(S).If you do not have those problem(s),THEN YOU DO NOT NEED ALL THOSE UPDATE(S).
What's the point of installing all those update(s) which fix specific problem(s) if you do not even have those problem(s) in the first place lmao?????????
If you have a specific problem, you will install an update FOR THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM ONLY,but not ALL THE UPDATES for ALL OTHER PROBLEMS which you don't even have looooooooool. That is so stupid if you ask me.

I will never understand why people keep updating their systems with ALL updates which come out.
My opinion why most of the people do that is because they do not have enough knowledge about computers and they think or "know" that the newest and most updated is always the best. But that is not always true.

I met so many people doing that who screwed up their systems so many times and I asked them why they do that and they simply answered:"Well...because it is the newest and the best."
Then I asked them WHY is it the best and they answered the same:"Because it is the newest stuff." I then asked them again WHY is it the best and they answered:"Well I don't know..."
And then I told them:"Exactly. No wonder why your system works like crap."

Not to mention that my computer is a lot older and a lot weaker than their computers and STILL it works better.

I also had so many cases when people told me that games lag on their computers. While on the other hand the SAME game(s) worked perfectly on my computer.

I am not saying updates are bad,but overreacting when it is really not neccessary will lead to a very bad results.

Two words: SECURITY PATCHES

Didnt realize this till long after i ran windows 7 professional and heard some info from people, but home premium does have a limit on how much physical memory can be addressed by the OS.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx

Home Premium can address 16Gb max, if you want more, say 24 gigs if your running a socket 1366 system with triple channel ram and want to max it...you will need professional or better. but thats my only reasoning for going to professional, i dont really see any use to buying 8 gig sticks for boards that support it and going for 32 gigs of ram if a board can support it but if you did...you would not be getting the full memory installed with home premium...

the same can be said for vista as well, just look over that article..its quite interesting espically server side too...wow

and as much as people want to go and say omg xp old want to update...ok sure, these may be outdated os's to the people that are playing games on stuff, but have you taken a thought to how many embedded systems are probably using stuff like win 98 and possibly 3.1? i took a tour of a trenton engine plant when i was still in high school around 2002, and i was seeing systems in that factory that were running windows 95...far past its life cycle end... these operating systems may possibly be at the end of service, but by no means are they outdated by any means if their doing the job that they have been doing for a long while reliably. I hate to see what happens when MS tries to phase out the xp systems that are in service, because there are places that work fine and dandy with xp and probably will continue to do so into the near future. then again these embedded systems probably have no network connectivity, therefore need no updates...so probably will be fine without updates or service of any kind.
