Windows XP won't install.

Hey guys, well im doing my yearly fresh install of my OS, and i just wanted to test out xp on my gaming rig, i previously had vista on it.But it all went good, until the "name your computer" part, it gets frozen, can anyone suggest to me whats wrong?

Just leave it as default. If it still freezes, is the cd damaged/scratched?

yah, i tried default, no luck, i think ive tried just about everything on it, skip/next w/ letter/ ___ w/o letter w/ letters and numbers. lol im willing to try anything xD.Its a shame, no the cd is in perfect condition, only used once.

Completely format your HDD using DOS program KILL DISK 4.1 and then after that install the Windows XP.

LoL are you saying that he does not have the OS CD or DVD disk?If thats the case then we can't help him xD

Have you tried just reinstalling again from the beginning? If the CD isn't scratched, it's likely that some file got corrupted during the first part of the install.

When installing an operating system, DO NOT type on the keyboard or mess with the operation, UNLESS prompted to do so.

try using the install CD in another computer if it works then you know its something with the gaming rig. If not the you know its something with the XP disk
