Oh dear, scandiski tried running scandisk from there and it starts and checks out the drive and fixes some errors
Scandisk was quite good, Norton also had one called Norton Disk Doctor, but these old programs went out when NTFS came in
The problem is Scandisk will revert all your files/folders to File000000.chk, and just to make sure that it kills your system it'll make about 100,000 of them or so.
I'd say you have now fully corrupted the drive (and likely any restore partition)
Yes Best to order a "HP Recovery disc"
Please note: In future only use CheckDisk (command line is: chkdsk /r)
As for recovery, I think I tried to recover (or unscramble rather) those CHK files, but it was a lost cause
By the way, you probably should have just followed what I said.
