OKOKOK, i know most of you will tell me to get a new computer... but just so you know, i just bought and iPod, have no money, and my parents aren't about to buy me a new computer.
When i got my computer i got it from eBay. I want to take out my system disk, and put in an empty drive and install Windows98 on it. I did that, but then it asked me for a product key after i was opening Windows for the first time. I am using the same windows, i am just baisically taking out my old windows and putting the same windows back on, just all clean and refreshed on a new disk. How can i find out the product key of my old windows???

Whoa, your computer is way better then my computer, anyways, I have seen programs that show you your current product key when you have the OS installed, yet you are in the process of installing it, so you cannot do this. You may have to use a key from somebody you know to get 98 on there.

rightio this might take a while. Im sure theres programs out there to do this but i cant be bothered finding one so ill tell you how to do it the old fashioned way.

1. Go to start / run and type "regedit" (without the quotes) then push enter
2. on the left hand side, browse to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / software / microsoft / windows / current version.
3. on the right there should be a key called product key, followed by five groups of five numbers and letters. This is your product key!!

Hope this helped

*Edit* - Sorry just read it PROPERLY and realised that i missed the point that you couldnt actually access windows. My tip wont be of any help then :(.
