Hi , Is wine a program (free to download in the website) so I can use in Ubuntu OS that I installed. So to make compatible to other program that I should install such as adobe pdf ,AutoCad 2006,Solidworks 2003. Any name of such wine should I look for because when I search for wine there's not really WINE to download it 's different name thou? I did installed last night Ubuntu 8.10 WOW that's a great OS looks very stable and lots of goodies with it. But when I checked my hard drives (it's a two hard drive-one for window XP and other for Ubuntu) I got only 160Gb on XP but in Ubuntu there's only 10Gb supposed to be 160Gb,should I repartition the Ubuntu's hard drive and how?I'm kinda a Noobie, thanks for the input.

WINE is not a program it is a set of APIs. In fact WINE literally stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator which is another misconception of what it is.

To install wine in Ubuntu I would first check out this link and follow the instructions.

As for your HD problem, please in Ubuntu, open up the terminal. Then type the command df. Copy/paste the output on this forum so we can take a look at it.

Here's the copy of my hard drive,

you have several partitions. I don't like how Ubuntu outputs that command, it is harder to read than it's Unix variants...

To me it looks like you have a 150gb drive partitioned in two even partitions. Is that correct?

Yeah, in Ubuntu the command
Code:
sudo fdisk -l
gives a much cleaner output. :)

I have two hard drive in my computer one with Window XP and other hard drive is Ubuntu but in my ubuntu it shows only 10Gb but if I boot of to Window I can see two hard drive each have 134 Gb free space. I know I didn't partition both drives should i partition the Ubuntu in order to see the size of the hard drive and how can i partiton it? And I did download WINE but I can't even install programs such as Solidwork 2003? How can I install it?Thanks again .

here's another shots of my hard drive:
Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x21832182

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 19456 156280288+ 7 HPFS/NTFS

Disk /dev/sdb: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes

So there's two hard drive but if you gonna look at my computer it doesn't show only 160Gb and less than 10 Gb .

Yeah ok you have sda1 and sdb are your two drives. It also shows sdb which mean that your second drive has two partitions, sdb and sdb1. GPARTED Live should be able to resize unused space have you tried using that yet?

I'm now dowloading the gparted but takes me for a while only 94.5mbytes but kinda slow. About Wine any advice how to use it kinda hard to install any program kindly guide me to install any program with the help of wine as emulator.

Any advice? Please? how to use WINE at all kinda hard to learn to install sotware or program using wine?

You should be able to install WINE with your Ubuntu's package manager, find something like 'Install and Uninstall software" in menu (I'm not an Ubuntu user). then search for "wine" select it and install. After install, *.exe files should be able to open by clicking on them, but if they don't open or install then don't try many times, probably that program won't work.
