I noticed that when i compress a file,say for example 15mb file into an archive the archive will be like 14mb..really weird. I wanna know :

1. how to compress so that the file becomes really small ?
2. any other compressing software better than winrar that can do the above ?

It depends on what you are compressing. RARing (or zipping or whatever) already compressed files like JPGs, MPGs, etc doesn't do too much.

There is one called KGB Archiver. Works extremely well compared to rar, zip, or 7-zip. However, it takes huge amounts of resources when doing so and takes a while.

Other than that, it depends on some of the files you are extracting.
