wipe my hard drive clean?

I am looking for a free program that will wipe my hard drive clean. Any out there?

How secure do you need it? If you just want to clear it, right click on the drive in "My Computer", then click format. However, data is easily recoverable if you do that method...

problem is no operating system will boot up. I am having issues installing on o.s. and want to wipe drive clean and start fresh. O.s. freezes during install

Ok, just do what I suggested...right click > format.

dban

dban will do what you want. Burn the CD, boot up with it, and let it run. It takes a while, but will COMPLETELY wipe the disc.

ran dban and tryed fresh xp install but to no avail. computer will only boot to a black screen with a grey bar across the bottom. This really sucks. Think I might need a new harddrive.
