Wire connection takes a long time to reconnect

I have my laptop wired to the router. I set the computer to go to sleep after 30 minutes when plugged in.

When I wake the computer up, the internet is not connected. It takes a while (30 seconds or more) to reconnect.

Is there any setting to eliminate the lag time so it reconnect instantaneously?

Lots of issues when coming out of sleep mode. You can try updating the network driver though. May not fix it however.

Do you get the same behavior when plugging the ethernet cable in as 'fresh' with an idle pc?

There are some network related features that take suspiciously around 30 seconds to establish a working link with spanning tree but that isn't a feature of home networks.

Got some advice from the digital photo forum. It turned out that the power management of the adapter was turned on (maybe by some updates). I turned it off, rebooted the machine. Now the networking is there when it comes back from sleep.
