Hi all, I recently moved to a new house. And I ran into some problem, I got 2 pc as my rig. 1 of them is in the living room and my 2nd one is located in my bedroom. Problem is there is a large gap between the two. I'm trying to make an decision weather go for the wire which require me atleast 8-9m of ethernet cable or I should just buy a wireless router and a wireless net work card for my 2nd pc. Also Can any one give me some suggestion on wireless net work card / router? my old router got pwned while moving to my new house .

10m of ethenet cable is like $20 or less, depending on where you look. dont get ripped off. And a ethernet NIC is about under $10/15.

You would need a CROSSOVER cable to connect the two directly and use Internet Connection Sharing (but the bad news is the one with the modem would need to always be on)

Alternatively, get two PATCH cables and an ethernet router ($40)whereas you are talking $60/$80 for a decent wifi router and $30 for each card

either way, Absolute max is like $110 for wired, maybe $140 for wireless

Wired is faster, more secure by its nature, whereas wifi is portable.
