Wired networking issues on router uplink

I have a router(b) uplinked to another router(a). I am using an XP pro desktop connected to routerB, and it keeps giving me a "limited connection" error, when I check the details, its has an out of range IP and shows the wrong subnet. So I tired hooking up a xp pro laptop to the same connection and it worked fine, network sharing and internet. I copied the settings (dns, ip, subnet, etc.) over to the desktops tcp/ip config. The desktop no longer gets the error, but the connection is no good, cant ping anything or browse the network.

My only thoughts is ithat the network card may need replaced? Anybody have some ideas?

Thanks,
Michael

you should try pinging this address 127.0.0.1 if that works but you still cant ping anything else. try putting in another nic in there. if everything works with the new NIC then most likely your other NIC is bad.
