wireless adapter problem

All of a sudden my internal wireless adapter is not recognizing any wireless signals from sourses I know are working. It's worked fine for years. I've gone into the wireless network properties and clicked on the general tab and it tells me the device is working properly. I even checked for driver updates but there were none. It's on a lap top and I'm thinking maybe I should just go by an external one.

Any suggestions???

Sometimes on laptops there is a switch that you can turn off and on which searches for wireless networks. I have one on my laptop. Its a little switch on the front of the laptop, sometimes I hit it by accendent and I lose my connection. Hope this helped.

I would check to make sure you can connect to your network via a wired connection before you go out and buy a usb or pcmcia wifi adapter. If that works, then check under device manager to see if there are any question marks or exclamation points next to your wifi adapter, or if your wifi adapter is even listed. If the card completely went out it may not be listed as the computer would no longer be able to detect it.

Soda....
That was it! I've had this laptop for about 5 years and never knew that that was what that button was for. Somehow it got turned off. Thanks, that did the trick.
