wireless adapter problem

my wireless adapter has just stopped working! im running a toshiba satelite pro c660 1t0 and the adapter is an atheros. ive tried installin the most up to date driver but nothing happened. also, under manage connections in the network and sharing centre, nothing is coming up about wireless adapter! please help!
 
Does the Atheros device show as working properly in Device Manager or is there an icon with a yellow ! showing?
 
Have you tried going to device manager. ( right click on my computer and select properties then go to the hardware tab and click device manager. ) Unistalling the device then reinstalling it . It usally works for me when my computers wireless network adapter stops
 
its appearing as unknown device, when I un-install it it removes it, then when it tries it install again it says cannot find driver. maybe i have the wrong one? can anyone direct me to the right one! this is very annoying! thanks in advance!
 
just after trying to get windows to update it and this came up:

Atheros AR938x Wireless Network Adapter

A device attached to the system is not functioning.


in the months leading up to this, my internet has been playing up and when i'd trouble shoot it would say wireless adapter disconnected and it would reconnect it. also, my internet connection would just drop suddenly even though it was still connected to the router. the rrouter definately wouldnt lose connection as another laptop has no problems. am i better to just take my beating and return it before the warranty is out?
