Wireless Desktop Computer

Hello there

Bit of a strange question here but I will go a head. I don't want a laptop (for reasons I won't go into), I want a desktop computer and I don't need advice on what components I need ect, I got that covered. What I'm interested in is having a desktop computer that I can access from the couch comfortably. I want to be able to use this computer wirelessly with a display on my lap and a wireless keyboard and mouse next to me. I hope you're following, I know a laptop would solve this problem but it can't be laptop. Its got to be a standalone fully set up wirelessly and it has to be powerful, not a all-in-one monitor.

Any advice?

Cheers

hehehe ;) Interesting requests there. Right off I don't know of anything that would really solve your requirements though. Of course there's remote desktop/vnc/etc but they tend to have some lag. Much the same with Intel's WIDI. The display's going to be your real problem.

Have you considered simply using your TV as a screen? I have a Samsung 40" with an HTPC plugged into it and the display is perfect (IE no blurring, no overlay, as clear as my monitors). I can read it across the room, and with a nice bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo, I can actually control it anywhere within the house ;)

Hello there

Yeah I thought about using a TV but the problem is other family members come and go and will want to watch the tele, so thats a no go. I was looking for portable TVs with a VGA or HDMI input and seeing if you can get a wireless VGA or HDMI adapter, but they haven't been invented yet.

This is a tricky one.
