wireless display

ok my dad wants his laptop to be displayed on our 42 inch widescren WITHOUT a cable runing across the room im not knowledgable on that subject so i figurred id ask
if one:
its possible to do so with good enough deffinition to read the tv is 1080p the laptop is toshiba satelite l300 series

and two:
not sure on a budget yet jsut preferably under a couple hundred dollars
so whats the average price of such a unit

also if you knwo how to MAKE one let me know my dad may be able to make one himself

You can do this yourself you can do a google search for "wireless tv to pc" and it comes up with quite a few results with the middle level units running about $150 or so.
