Wireless G - vs Wireless N - is it worth upgrading?

I've got a second PC on a Home Network.

Router is a 2Wire ATT DSL router - supplied by ATT

The PC is a C2D with 4GM DDR2 RAM

PC wireless networked via = D-Link WUA-1340 USB adapter

It always connects to the internet quite slowly. Not standard telephone wire slow - but "VERY SLOW" compared to my PC connected via ethernet wire. Videos also bog down a bit more on Youtube and others. The Signal Strength bar consistently displays s 1 or 2 of 4 bars on the Wireless status bar at the bottom of display.

I would like to speed up the connection - but don't want to invest in another USB adapter and Wireless - N router - if it's not going to solve the problem. Or if the PC is what's causing the slow internet connection.

Any thoughts - experiences - suggestions to increase teh speed of Wireless connection?

Thanks

The newer dsl modem/routers that ATT are giving out don't have much signal strength. The older ones had much better signal strength. I had a friend that had to replace their old one that was working fine until the wirelss started going out on it and now the new one was giving them problems like the other one. So I had to run an ethernet cable for them. I tried changing the output power strength, the wireless channel and nothing helped.
