Wireless internet for desktop

I see that Verizon has wireless internet for laptops. Can someone give me some info on how to set this up for a desktop?
On dialup now and the wife is going bonkers with the slow speed and I hate to spend $500 upfront for satellite.

Search ebay for "pcmcia to pci" for hardware to let you use Verizon's PCMCIA cellular card. I can't guarentee it will work, but I'd try it myself.

So, would you use this wireless connection for dial-up or cable? I have cable and my desktop is on a wireless, I just simply use a wireless router and a nice PCI wireless card.
