I have a Dell Latitude e650 running windows 7 pro, which is fairly new,
at my house i have cable modem hooked up to a Linksys WAP54G Wireless-G

at least once or twice a day everything is working fine and it will just disconnect from the internet and it is a pain to get it connected again.

I usually have to restart computer, modem, and router.
I am also having same problem at my GF's house with her wireless.

I do not have these problems with other laptops.

I have no idea where to even start to solve this problem any input would be appreciated thanks

Is your cable modem also a router/gateway? I would suspect that you need to have a router in the mix somwhere to serve out internal IP addresses.

The setup is like this

first cable (coax) comes into plugs into a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem

from there I have ethernet connecting to

Linksys WAP54G Wireless-G

Yes, thats the older model of the one I posted. So are you saying you already have a router? You didn't say that before when I said something about it. It needs to go modem to router to access point if you are extending the range of the wireless. So your posts are a little confusing on what you have connected and where.

The WAP54G is an access point, not a router. Do you have both?
