Wireless issue

Hello all

I have an extremely frustrating problem which is driving me around the bend! I am hoping someone may be able to help.

I installed a wireless network some time ago using a netgear WGR614. At first things were good with good connection. However I went on holiday and turned off the router. When I came back it wasn't working so I re-installed the router. It now connects fine and windows says the connection is excellent. However I play a lot of online poker and the connection sticks badly and then suddenly catches up with itself all the time.

Is this problem systematic of being connected to a dodgy channel? If windows says the connection is excellent how can the connecton be so patchy?

Could someone be hacking in?

Is that the wireless channel? I am currently connected to 11.

install a stumbler on your computer and survey the surrounding wifi networks. Change your channel to at least 3 channels different from the others.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the stumbler is compatible with my wireless card.

I changed the channel and now I can't connect at all!

I think I am going to take everything out and start again as things were fine when I first started!

the problem could be your wifi card then. Update the drivers and firmware if there are any updates

Thanks for your advice, I shall re-install the router and see what happens and also update the wireless cards firmware.
