I just updated the firmware on my wireless router and thought it might fix my problem but its not.

I may be wrong but what i read on other forums is that people should be getting approx 20 megabytes / sec or more .... but if I am transferring a 700 megabyte file why is it taking 70 minutes?

Is there some setting on my router that I must be missing here or what?

You mean tranferring files between computers or downloading from the internet? If you mean from the internet, that solely depends on the internet speed you are getting from internet provider.

All a router does is beam out the wi-fi to the rest of your house, or you can connect ethernet cables to it. The actual speed of your internet coming in depends on your ISP

Im referring from PC to PC. It seems incredibly slow at like 10MBps you would think it would be at least double that

Depends on the network cards, may need to update the drivers for them or maybe one of them is only set to 10 mb/s instead of 100.
