Wireless network card

Hey,

So, recently, my house caught fire and destroyed it to the point of us no longer being able to live there. The place I'm probably moving to only has dial-up in the house, so I don't see it fit for my net habits. Isn't it possible for me to pick up one of those wireless network cards-say, from AT&T-and pick up a signal from a more distant location? Or is it for laptops that have no wireless capabilities?

The Wireless card from AT-T will take care of all your internet needs, but be careful as the sometimes have data limits.
 
Ahh, data limits as in you can only do so much with them and then you have to get a new card?

Also, do you know roughly around the average cost of the AT&T card?

No. Data limits are a limit of the data you can transfer over the connection.

Say, if you were just to use it for email, you'd have no issues, but if you were on Youtube alot streaming many megabytes of data, there may be restrictions.

You'd have to look at the individual plan to find out, there may not be limits.

Ah, alrighty. Thanks for the link. I'll give it a look! :)

Also, I'm currently running Ubuntu on my laptop until I get my HDD replaced (probably this upcoming week). Would the AT&T card be able to run on Ubuntu?

The Windows 7 Release Candidate will be available for public download tomorrow. Anything that runs on Vista should run on Win 7.
An option to consider.
 
I prob will once I get my HDD back. Also, are all of these just for 2 year contracts? I'm unsure of how long I will be at this place, but I know it will be no more than one year.
