Wireless network disconnects/no auto-reconnect

Wireless network disconnects/no auto-reconnect
I have recently subscribed to a local cable ISP and have a Linksys wireless router broadcasting throughout my house. About every half hour, my wireless internet icon in the task bar flashes that it is connected to my home connnection at full signal, and then just after, disconnects.

I am running a toshiba laptop with windows XP pro SP3
In Wireless Network Connection Properties, I have my home internet connect configured at the top of the list in wireless networks, the box that says "use windows to automatically configure..." is checked. Under my connection's properties, it is set to connect even if it's not broadcasting, and to connect when it is in range.

Even when it disconnects, you can see that it still shows up in my wireless networks list at full signal, but it does not automatically connect. Also, when connected to the router directly, it seems to work fine without disconnecting. I've never had this problem with any other wireless network unless the signal was bad.

Any suggestions?

Just for clarification, are you moving around when it disconnects or are you in a fixed location?

Also, does it disconnect no matter where you are (ie. right next to the router or being across the house)?

Do you have WEP enabled on your router?... i've noticed when your wireless is not secure and you are connected to it if it finds another wireless connection it disconnects and tries to connect to that... check your eventlog and get us more info on what its reporting there... right click my comptuer select manage and then in eventviewer look for some signs may help us help you better ;)

I'm not sure what WEP is, but I do have my wireless network password protected and named. It is set at the highest on the list of wireless networks in my range (I get signals from several neighbor houses), and even when it disconnects, it doesn't try to connect to another network, because I have all the rest set to not connect automatically.

More importantly, I do notice in the security event viewer this message right about the same time that my wireless disconnects:

"Failure Audit: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network interfaces on the machine. This can be a potential security hazard to the machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection as desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to further diagnose the problem."

Windows support center tells me how to add the snap in, but not how to diagnose the problem...if this is in fact the cause of my problem.

Check the wireless name with other wireless routers. I think your network might be named the same as some other network and can be causeing a conflict.
