Wireless Network

Hi everyone,

I am wanting to set up a wireless network that has the capacity for at least 7 separate logins also with the ability to restrict the download use for each of these logins.

I'm sure there are probably many ways to do this but i'm looking for the simplest/most cost effective way.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

Regards, Kain.

Got an old computer that's not being used? You could install a firewall OS that will do everything you ask. Combine that with an off-the-shelf wireless router and you have it made. Mine is built on a P4 and manages some fifteen devices with eight of them wireless. I have QoS, content and AV filtering.

Or, with a little extra work and a wireless card or two for the desktop, you could turn the firewall into a wireless router itself.

If you don't have a spare computer, then most wireless routers do have built-in firewalls, though it may be a little work to find one that does QoS.

Thanks Dngrsone.

Getting hold of an old desk top should be no worries.
Could you recommend me a good budget firewall OS that I could use?
Also how would I go about controlling the amount of downloads each user is permitted?

Look forward to a response :)

I agree with Dngrsone Smoothwall Express 3.0 is a good firewall to use well it has a SmoothWall Express box which can act as a wireless access point, this can be set up so wireless users have more restricted access, in order to reduce the harm that a wireless intruder could cause.
