Wireless networking help

hi looking for info on wireless networking for my laptop so i can connect to my broadband modem i was in pc world and the staff told me that because i had ntl broadband i could only use certain types of routers if this is right can someone tell me what type i need to get so i can get one from ebay

You'll be needing a Broadband Router. I would recommend this one,

You also need a wireless card for your laptop, if it doesn't have a built in wireless connection.
