I was just talking to someone about my connection problems and they said it might have something to do with the wireless phone in my room??? And mentioned something about changing the channels on the router? Im pretty much totally lost when it comes to networking so as much detail as possible would be nice.
Modem= Motorolla SB5120 SURFboard Cable Modem
Wireless Card= D-Link RangeBooster N

well your phone should not interfear it uses a high freq. but if you want to change your channel, you have to login to your router go to wireless and there should be something that says channel in there

to emphasize this:
true, the phone should not effect it. but it might tho. We had 2.4ghx phone with a 2.4 ghz router and problems arose. we bought a set 5.8ghz phones, ad everything is better. to change ur channel:

  1. go to command prompt
  2. type ine : ipconfig
  3. ur ipconfiguration settings should pop up
  4. take note of ur 'default gateway #'
  5. mine is 192.168.2.1
  6. opene up ur internet browser
  7. type in the defaultgateway # in ur browser
  8. play around with the page till u can change ur channel

ok well i just looked at my phone and it says that it is 5.8ghz so....
but another thing is my wireless keyboard and mouse stopped working
idk if that is related at all but i wasnt happy and wasnt sure y : /
o and when i that into the browser then it just googles it : /

ok i just found it but now what should i change the channel to???
and will it automatically adjust if needed on other wireless computers set up with it?
