wireless problems

hello, my laptop has started connecting to someone elses wireless and when i go on view wireless networks it says no wireless networks in range. Obviously there is as its connects to someone elses, i fink its set this other network as the default but i cant connect to mine as none are being displayed.
Any help will be appreciated thanks
 
Hey. I was slightly confused by your post. If you are connected to someone's network, it had to be visible. If your computer is showing you that there are no wireless networks in range, then you probably aren't connected to anything. If a wireless network is available to be connected to, then it will be visible in your list of available wireless networks. Try refreshing your list and see if you get any different results.
 
hi, i am connected to the internet. When i gone on wireless network connection status is says im connected to someone elses network i then click on view wireless networks and none appear in the list even if i press refresh. It doesnt seem to make sense but thats whats happening and i fink its set this other persons network as default.
 
You are connecting to a network that is considered not visible. This is why no networks are showing up. The only way you would be able to access this network is if someone told you the name of the network and the pass phrase. Then you would automatically connect to the network.

Also the reason why you are automatically connecting to this network is because it is listed as the default network to connect to.

How do you usually connect to the internet?
 
well i have a working router and internet connection but like i say nothing is coming up in the network list, the network that it keeps automatically connecting usually appears with my network but neither are being displayed. the router works fine because my desktop picks it up ok. I dont understand would it be a software problem? is the network list a part of os or is it a seperate piece of software?
