Wireless question

My wife wants us to get a wireless router, so she can go anywhere in the house and work on her laptop computer.

My son, who is into gaming bigtime, doesn't want to lose the hard wired router.

Is the wireless that much of a drop off from the hard wired? I wouldn't have a problem getting a wireless card for his computer, but if it's going to cause a big drop off in his online gaming speed, I'll have to figure something else out.

A wireless router still has 4 ports to hook up wired computers. No need to lose the wired capability.

You can hook up the Xbox, the laptop, the computer, whatever even with a wireless router.
