I have a friend has two houses NEAR to each other. He wanted to share the internet between the two houses. what is the best solution?
The two houses is about 500 to 750 feet apart. some trees in between, the wireless routers that commanly sold at best buy or computer store be able to transmmit between the two houses? I saw some of the specifications say 1000 feet range, but my house is 68ft x 48ft upstairs and downstairs. I have problem to pickup the wireless router at one end to the other end.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

That is 1000ft in open space without any obstacles. As soon as you start putting walls, furtiniture, plants etc in the way, you will be reducing that range drastically.

You can get 1000ft CAT 5 cables, you could hard wire the houses to each other

Can the cat 5 cable link the two houses without booster? just connect to the router and the computer on the other house?
Thank you.

With the distance being that far, its not feasible as cat5 can only go about 300 feet or so. And wireless wouldn't work. Your best bet would be to get internet service at the other house via dsl or cable.

its cheap to get a 300 Ft lan cord, or just get an internet conection at the other house as running a lan cable to another house will void most isp contracts

The distant is more than 500 feet, and getting another internet service is not an option for now neither because the phone line stop where it is and no further. We are talking about remote country area with bushes and trees.
Thank you.
