Wireless Router Question?

Hi;
Let say that you have your router (wireless) set up already. Can you move it to another location without being attached to a computer and it still works with all the wireless components. But when you try to attach another component to it, it won't show up or try to connect. Wouldn't it have to be connected to a computer to get the IP connection. My Nephew did this. And he will not listen to me. I never done it. He doesn't know computers at all. So that is why I am posting the question.

Thank you

Well typically a wireless router would have to connect to a modem by his ISP so that he could allow other components to use the internet when the wireless router is connected to the modem.

All you need for a router to work is a modem. I'll break the connection down.
Internet>modem>router>computer. You don't need a computer for the router to work.
