Wireless signal extension?

I'm having to move my desktop, router and modem downstairs, across the house from where it is now. The only problem is the room where I'm moving it, doesn't get signal from the room where its in now, so I'm guessing it would work the same swapped around.

Is there some sort of signal extension to plug up to my router so we will get signal from the rest out of the house?
 
if you have a second router not being used and gathering dust you could flash that with dd-wrt and use it as a repeater or there are adapters like homeplugs that boost wireless signal

The room i'm placing the desktop and router in is encased in cement. (Used to be a car port) so I'm definitely going to need something strong.

I've seen some wall-plug repeaters. Would you reccomend those?
