I've got an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG adaptor on my laptop, its connecting at 54mpbs .. although my router says that i can take up to 108mbps.. is there something i havent set up? or is my adaptor incapable of transferring at 108...
thanks guys

Another question, while im on msn, there's times where i just get disconnected from the network for a second, and it signs me out of msn. im not that far from the router, only about 7-8m away but it still cuts off sometimes. Is there anyway around this?

If network was cabled with cat 5 Speed=108mbps (computer to computer)
If wireless and using the G portion Speed=54mbps (computer to computer)

You will not get these speeds to the internet though. You probably have a connection speed of around 1.5-2.0 mbps. You wont get a steady speed around there though. Its known as burst speeds, or what you can receive a speed up to.

The cutoff could be from interference, cell phones, wireless hedsets, wireless phones... Etc. Try getting a direct line of sight. Avoid metal/concrete walls.

Thanks for that trizoy. What's the Super G my router has? it says it can transmit wirelessly at 108mbps, but only with a compatible wireless adaptor. Does my intel adaptor have this Super G?

Well yes, yoou at your model. PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
Do if your computers are networked through this wireless router, and both computers have a G adaptor... you can get up to 108mbps between those computers.

The super G speed is only useful if you mave 2 or more computers on a network.

Ah thanks for that info trizoy. I'm still getting disconnected from msn at various times even though im right next to the router. could it be in my settings for the di-624? ive noticed that there's a WMM Function (Wireless Qos) option.. but when i turn it on.. it turns off my Super G with Dyamic Turbo off.. which one should i have on? i think my wireless adaptor supports that wmm thing... i just dont know what is better...is there any other settings i should tweak?

no matter what.. its usually always an interference of some sort.. eventhough you may be right next to it.. its wireless...it's bound to have dropped signals, weak signals, interferences, lags, etc... probably the only way for you to not be dropped from your internet connection is to have it connected via the cables..

wireless anything.. you can always expect dropped signals and everything..

damn that sucks... then theres no purpose for my laptop.. which is meant to be portable =(. i guess ill have to put up with the disconnecting. thanks for the help guys

Uh...no. Wired network speeds are 10/100/1000. Wifi is 11 and 54... I don't know right off about the 108Mbps, though. I don't know if that's a 'true' standard(like my old Dlink supporting 22Mbps)
