hey guys.
im about to go insaine.
My wireless connection is horrible, i need help fixing this,
It happens often, my signal strength still is "very good" and it doesn't actually disconnect it just laggs.like it will take a min to show up on google that it cannot find the server.
It refuses to load pages.
could it be the modem? ive had it for years.

the router is one of those linksys wrt54g, it may be the gl version. I can update if its important.
also when its not lagging the connection is good, fast to.

someone help me fix this please

How many other people are on it when it is lagging? Does it happen at specific times? Like when you start the computer... or 8:00pm at night?

Is it a secured network? Could you have people mooooching your internet connection?

it happens all the time.no time specifically.ive tryed changed channels
its unsecure
but i doubt its others mooching off me as its a small neighbourhood with many networks.

im boggled on how to fix it
any settings in the router i can frigg with>?

I have the same problem. Sorry to mooch off of your topic here, but I don't want to waste space and start another.

My problem is similar in that I have a network setup in my house as to where one computer has a wired (into the phone line) modem. My wireless linksys card connects to this modem, well...wirelessly. The speed is not really the problem, it is usually on a good 11-28 Mbps, however the signal strength is what brings it down. It's to the point where as soon as the computer is on the signal strength is either: weak, or none. I game alot, and surf the internet alot, but my fun is limited by this when my connection refuses to load any pages (even browser home pages), and will constantly crash game clients due to no signal.

Is there someway I can boost signal strenght? Should I consider a wireless router? Or is the solution simpler than that?

I had that same router (wrt54g) and we had problems for awhile. We switched over to netgear and haven't had any problems since.
