Wiring Help

I've spent the last day and a half assembling and wiring my first build. I'm at the end and ran into a problem.

I have a Antec 900 case that has a IEEE 1394 cable, and a GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard that doesn't have a place for it to plug into.

Do I need to buy a usb to 1394 converter cable?

Are they readily available in chain stores?

Well do you use that cable anyway?

If you don't need it don't worry about it...

Also iv searched around and there are only IEEE 1394 to USB ...

Would would need to get a PCI card to host the port....

Iv seen one with 2x USB3 on pointing externaly and 1 IEEE 1394 in the case...

Ya, I was doing more reading, trying to understand if I need it at all. Apparently USB 2.0 is better anyways. So unless I buy something that needs a firewire connection to the computer, I should be fine without it right?
 
computer wont know its plugged in or not, so dont sweat it, firewire is kinda going to be a dying thing with USB3 already in the consumer market...only thing Firewire had the option of was sending more current across the cable than USB could...thats about its only real advantage as far as i see it.
 
As said before, don't worry about it, the only thing that will happen is that you won't be able to use the Firewire port.
