battery life i go with the second one, performance i go with the first one, overall if price is not object i go with the first one.

I agree with kof, pretty much the only good thing in the 2nd laptop is the processor, which is good but its a fairly slow PM. I'd go with the first one, not to mention that its new.

Where are you getting the first one. Thats a good deal

It's a good deal, but not one of the best. You can get a similar setup (except only 512MB RAM) for around $550-$600.

And the Sempron 2800+ will be pretty good at games.

witch one could run games the best like guild wars, counter-strike or halflife2, the latest games

because I like the 2nd one because of battery life. If the budget was $700 and the 2nd one was $500 you will have an extra $200. What if you bought upgrades with that $200 will it be the same as the 1st laptop, or the first one would still be better?

I've been lookin and 1gig of ram is $100 so thats 1.5GIG of ram, and a carrying case is $30, and whatevers left can upgrade the other stuff if possible etc..

If u added ram to the 2nd one, 1gig would only be 1.2 since i'm betting that 512mb is 256 in each of the 2 slots.
saying that, the first one is still better. there just isn't anywhere that it loses besides battery life which is subject of debate.
