Hi, i recently installed a fresh and legal copy of windows, and installed windows media player 10. I have now got a problem, when media player is not even open, of en arror message coming up. I've attached a picture of the message, which to me is saying that it didn't install properly... when i click ok, it just keeps coming back 20 or 30 seconds later.

whats wrong?

The first thing you should try is re-installing WMP. If that doesn't fix the problem, then the following might:

The best way to find out what's wrong (and fix it) is to take a look in your event viewer. You can get to it by either RMB "My Computer" and choosing "Manage" or opening up:
Control Panel>>Administration Tools>>Event Viewer.

It should look something like this:

From there, if you chose "Application" you'll get a list of all the warnings and notifications from applications running on your system. Go through all the error messages until you find one that came from Windows Media Player and double click it for more information.

In the information screen there should be a link to Microsoft's online help and support centre. If you click that (while you're on the Internet) you'll be presented with some more information on the problem and hopefully a way to fix it. :)

Hope some of this has helped.

i upgraded to wmp11 the other day, and i haven't had any problems since then... but thanks very much for your help - and you learn something new everyday!
