Wondering where to go from here

My girlfriend just recently uninstalled the ethernet router program file (it was named: ethernet driver.... from her computer and now she hasn't been able to reinstall or have the cpu reconize the router....it's for an ADSL connection, it is a Gateway 2 wire router...the model number is 2701HG-B

The OS is Windows XP home edition 2005, it's a Pentium 4 prcessor computer with ethernet/dial up connection.

I am sorry if I haven't been able to nail down all of the specs to a T....but I am just lost with all of this, but in time I know I'll learn from the best....

So where can I find the codecs or the proper ethernet driver,

Buddy

If the modem is connected to the ethernet port, you don't need drivers or software for the modem itself. Find the drivers for the Ethernet card in the computer. All settings from there are probably setup on the router. Find a manual regarding the router if you're unsure how to access it. Typically you need to go to your browser and type in it's IP address; something like 192.168.1.1.
