wont read

when i put a cd in my disc drive it does not read it and it says there is nothing in the drive but there is what can i do to fix this

Try another Disc, if it doesnt work the drive is more than likely dead...

Is it an RW cd?

nope just a normal music cd i tried different ones but they don t work either

Then the CD could be corrupt, or it could be scratched beyond readable.

i tried all of my cds and none of them read thought do you think it is possible that my mp3 player ruined the disc drive because it says it the manuel for the mp3 player dont use your computer to delete music off your mp3 player and i did and every since then it hasent been working and i have some cheap e machines computer

That would have affected your USB port... or the MP3's HDD... not the CD drive. If the PC is still in warranty I say send it back and fix it. Otherwise, use an older computer's CD drive and test it.
