Word File Virus

Hey, my dad is having a lot of trouble on his laptop. He can't open any of his Word files. When he tries to, a warning box pops up saying "changes have been made to the global template 'normal' Would you like to save?"

Either way, if he clicks yes or no, the Word file will not open.

We have run Norton, Avast, Ad-Aware, etc. No luck with any of them.

He has Windows XP Pro and MS Office 2003 on his Toshiba Satellite.

Any help would be appreciated.

Doesnt sound like a virus to me...it sounds like a file got corrupted somehow, run sfc /scannow in the run box and see what it comes up with, you might need to install your windows cd to run it.

Well the reason I thought it was a virus is because every single Word file on the laptop is corrupted the same way.

What are sfc and scannow? How do I run them?

Thats a good link buzz posted...sfc /scannow will search for missing or corrupt windows files. Select start at the bottom left corner then select run, in the run box type in sfc /scannow make sure there is a space between sfc and /scannow!
