Hey there,

Can anyone tell me what the folowing means...

When someone logs onto my computer using a Limited acount they get a wordpad file show up every time with the following text..

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

It does Not show this when i log onto my administrators account,I mean this isnt realy a problem as my family using the limited acount just click on X on the wordpad anyway and it doesnt show up again until they log on next time.

And no this isnt spyware or anything.
And im using Windows Xp home,SP2.
Thanks:)

In the limited accounts go to the tools link on the explorer bar and use the folder options\ view settings to uncheck the "Restore previous folder windows at logon". That may close out the automatic pop up whenever those accounts are logged onto. Primarily that is seen even with full administrative when you see a sudden restart of the system for any reason.

Although you can try PC eye method, i dont believe that will be your problem, I believe that message to have something to do with the limited account having two many desktop.ini files in the startup. You may also notice that the start bar opens automatically on startup as well as the notepad file. Complete the following and i think your problem should be resolved.

Log onto the limited account with the problem, wait for the computer to completely load, close the notepad file and left click on start/all programs and near the top you may see a desktop fill, right click and select delete.

Next right click on the start icon select explore, (NOT explorer all users) open programs and delete the desktop file there if there is one.

Next right click on the start icon select explore (NOT explorer all users) open programs and then startup, delete the desktop file from there.

Then log off or reboot the pc and the problems should be gone.

This may have been cause by the computer being reformated using the quick format instead of the normal, slower one. And the admin user creating a limited account after installation.

This problem has no effect on your computers performance and as you said is not spyware or virus and will happen from day one of a fresh install. This is casued possibly by the above mentioned. Try out wat i suggested and let us know how you go

Cheers :)
