Working With Sandy Bridge

Hi everybody

I've just went and got myself an i5 2500k with p8p67 mobo and a HD5830 graphics card. Ive installed windows 7 ultimate x64, and ive gotten a decent daily overclock at 44 x100 @ 1.26v.
The overclock is very stable and after and 1-2 hours prime95 the temps havent gone past 75 (35-45 normal usage). It hasnt bsod at all in a week of normal use.
I am satisfied with this for the time being.

What I don't like is that windows cant recognize the motherboard and cpu properly. It doesn't get the chipset details or sensor readings right at all. Even Everest has no idea what the clock frequency actually is.

Does everybody get this or is it just me?

Also I cannot get a score im happy with in 3dmark06. I got 22371 with my daily overlcock mentioned above, and my gpu at 945mhz. This seems a bit low for this equipment at these speeds doesnt it?

Sorry for the long post, but its my first post and I wanted to cover everything.

I'd say 22,000+ is pretty good for just using a 5830 card..

Really? And i thought the card was pretty good lol. Plus i have overclocked the gpu by 145mhz and the gddr5 by 300mhz.

on my amd the temps are not right what are you using to monitor them?

Have you updated to all the latest drivers?

I use coretemp. This does give me exactly the same reading as the allcpumonitor sidebar gadget and everest.

All my drivers are latest. bios is 1305 (theres one that came out a few days ago but nothing significant changed in it so not worth the update).

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude..

It's just that its like a $140-ish card and the score you got, in my opinion, is quite good for what you are using!! :)

Im not offended :)
Im just looking at the 30k scores on this forum from other sb users (and less powerful cpu's) and thinking I should be closer to that

What cooler are you using? The temps seem a bit high for that voltage but I am an AMD guy so I might not be used to the normal temps for those settings on an Intel cpu.

Its a xigmated hdt s1283.
Intels run hot but yes, the temps are high for the voltage. My case has poor airflo and the cooler may not be seated optimally but its no emergency. its not dangerously hot.

Doesnt anyone have any thoughts on my issue with hardware recognition?
