Win 98 first edition , 2003 Norton antivirus -- it appears that PeX by bart has infected PC and disabled ability to get to internet .
An error message refers to : wininet.dll file not found , or not accessible . I do not have the exact wording . I believe that this file is necessary to get to internet .
If I understand the information in the forum sticky , I need to get to the internet and run Hijack this to scan the desktop . Then , I should post results here. Is that correct ?
I read that other Pex worms propagate by e-mail messages with infected attachments . Once opened , they send malicious letters to e-mail addresses .
Now , I'm concerned --is it a mistake to get to internet to run a hijack this scan ? Guidance ?
