worried about GPU temps

my laptop recently died, so I've gone back to my old alienware desktop. It's running an nvidia 7950 GT, factory overclocked by BFG. Under load, it tends to run in the 90s celcius, sometimes getting well above 100. This seems extremely hot. It's been even worse for the last day or so since I brought it back to school, though I have no idea what could have changed to make it run even hotter.

I took the card out to see if there was a lot of dust on the fan or heatsink, but there really didn't seem to be. Other than that, I'm not really sure what to do. I really don't want this computer to die on me as well before I can get a new one, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are there enough case fans? I can't believe that the temps get that high with it have a cooling fan on it.

There is a fan on the card itself, which is reaching speeds of over 3000 RPM. My monitoring software isn't detecting my other fans, but there is one on the motherboard, and one on the inside of the case's access panel. All are functioning.

EDIT: while testing with portal, temps reached 130C. Just the fact that the card didn't force the system to shut down at these temps seems strange to me. I'm afraid to play any games now...

Well, here's my current solution..effective, if a bit sloppy...

I wonder if it really is getting that hot. That should be hot enough to scald. How are you checking temps? I also wonder if those infrared point and shoot thermometers would help in this kind of situation.
