Worst Rip-Off

For 3000 bucks a year ago you would have a fairly good system now.

I don't think this system could have ever been worth $3000.

hell werent the 8800ULTRA's out by then? i think so, but i cant remember. i can see an X6800 with 2 gigs of ram, 500-1TB of hard drive space, dual 8800ULTRA's, shit like that would cost 3K

I can't believe no one has asked this yet (unless I missed it), but how old is the computer?

If he just bought it a few months ago, then yes it was a huge rip-off. However the P4's have been out for 8 years, so if he bought his computer 7-8 years ago, then that system would have been considered high end, and I don't actually see $3,000 being that outrageous.

Nah, he bought it last year. P4 weren't that expensive!

As much as that sucks, it's the guys' own fault. I agree that technical sense isn't the same as common sense, but technical sense wasn't his downfall. It would be a different story if he got ripped off (way more than normal) at a best buy or some other similar store. I don't feel sorry for him.

^ Yeah I get what you're saying. This case is just horrible with both sides being a**holes. I mean who would buy a 3K PC when you see'em all the time for ~$300 at Walmart???

Well, maybe it's a good lesson for him to learn. When I was 12 or 13, GTA: VC was coming out in several days, but this guy told me he worked at Best Buy and that he could get it to me several days before it came out because the stores received shipment a couple days before the release. I believed him and gave him my $50. He played it even cooler because he told me at the time he would pay for the tax. I thought 'nice guy.'

Well, he took care of the tax and the money -- but forgot to get me the game... hmm... and then he disappeard. He never told me he was a magician too!

Lesson learned a long time ago, but a good lesson.

I sure feel bad for him... he could of gotten a mac pro for that price

It sickens me how people try to take advantage of computer illiterate people. Just curious, do you know how long ago the guy bought the computer?

EDIT: nvm the question... I just saw someone else asked it. At one time it would of been worth that if it even existed, but not a year ago. I've got an old IBM laptop from my grandpa with 32 MB of RAM and a 2GB HD that sold new for $5000 dollars back in the day.
