worst virus

I'd have to say that the CIH (Chernoybl) computer virus is relatively high up there on the most damaging, as on the annerversiry of the Chernoybl nuclear disaster (April 26), it would deliever it's payload, potentially ruining the flash BIOS of motherboards which used the Intel 430TX chipset.

i had one before that stopped acces to port 80, everything else worked except from viewing websites, i could use ftp and everything else, even avast didn't pcik it up, and i ended up reinstalling windows

Are you sure you didn't just block access to port 80 (which would mean avast wouldn't detect that, since it's not a virus :P).

Worst virus? I don't know, I haven't actually had any. Atleast, I have never experienced a virus as bad as the Chernobyl one that Clutch was talking about...

*looks into guinness book of world records* the virulent 'i love you' virus was the most widespread the world has ever known. it was first detected in hong kong may 1 2000. within four days it had mutated into three different generations. the love bug combined sophistical programmng with a cunning apeal to the human psyche. when users opened the 'i love you' attachment, the virus was instantly forwarded to all people in your address book. governments, multinationalcorporations, and small businesses were all affected. at its height it closed the white house and US state department e-mail network.seven days after it was first dected it was estimated to be on 3.1 million computers.

Hmmm... my PC wasn't infected with viruses like more that a year now, just don't go on those sites (you know what I'm talking about) and everything will be fine, oh yeah, and use Firefox.

I haven't had many viruses, but one that I had that I hated the most was a virus that kept sending me pop up even when my browser was closed. What kind of was that? I had to reformat my comp to get red of it.

Before I moved to firefox, All I used was internet explorer, now This was before i even new what a harddrive was, so I was completely computer stupid, I used to write stories, one was at least 20 chapters longs, but everytime I would go back to see them, It would say file not found, then othe things started dissapearing, So my friend that taught me everything I know about computers was spinning the night and I mentioned it to him, He said well you need to scan your pc, I had a virus that was rated a 5 out of 5 on the star scale, and it was deleting my stuff. That had to be the worst virus I have ever had, the others were just spyware and stuff.

i've only had a couple of Trojan viruses, mostly all my infections were from stupid spyware and adaware.

I got a virus one time that deleted my integrated sound card driver...wtf??? I was without sound on that computer for like 6 months, it suxed.

I havn't had a virus on my XP machine, I used to get them alot on my 98 machine(back when 98....was current...) and same with ME and 95. I didn't have the internet either, A lot of my floppys wiht my cool games on them got infected and i couldn't use them anymore :[

Also, either ther was a virus on my ME disk, or on my AV disk....All i would do is install both and it would pick up a virus.

lol, the problem is i don't know how to do that, except from within my router config, and all other computers had access and i checked the settings, maybe it was just windows firewall acting up
