Worth getting a TV as a screen?

Undoubtedly

Hello, I don't have a TV in my room, but now I am looking to buy a TV, then someone told me you can run them as a computer screen too.

I have a 22inch screen at the moment and have a ATI HD Radeon 3870X2 card.
I have some hundreds I can spend, but just want to know what is a good TV/Screen to get?

Thanks

If you want a TV just buy a sony Bravia, it will support your desktop and laptop, you won't even need a modem for that.

pretty much all flatscreens will support using your tv as a monitor through hdmi or through vga some may even support dvi. they work quite well but may not be as appropriate depending on your use.

Before i or someone else delves into looking for a good tv what is your budget and where are you based?

I would suggest looking for a good quality from good brand led-lcd tv as this helps improve contrast ratio.
regardless of the above good brands to look at are Sony, lg, Panasonic viera series and samsung.

as i say get back to us with budget and where you are based.

Thanks for replies, my budget is around $400-500 AUS. As I live in Australia.
Games I play are WOW and Starcraft 2.
If that helps:D

from expeirience, if you want to go with a ahdtv as your monitor, then you need to get a TV with a 1080p resolution, and use HDMI for best results. i have a 25" HP 1080Plcd monitor, and a 40" 1080p HDTV, and i like my TV better then my monitor. but i have a 32" 720p HDTV and i like the 25" HP better because the resolution makes the difference.

Uhh, lots of manufacturers support that. And why would you need a modem?

I used to use a 32" 720P TV as my computer monitor, and the low resolution for the size of the screen really makes it impractical, as the desktop space is still limited by the resolution.
