worth going from 1.8 to 2.10GHz?

Am placing an order for a Dell Inspiron 700m notebook. I chose 1Gb SDRAM and am contemplating an Intel® Pentium® M Processor 765(2.10GHz/400MHz FSB) or the Intel® Pentium® M Processor 745(1.80GHz/400MHz FSB). The difference is 200 dollars. Is .3GHz worth it? Do you think I would notice a performance difference? All opinions wanted.

my opinion no, buy a 1.8GHz, i overclocked my cpu from 1.8GHz to 2.2GHz and there is a slight difference, you could buy 1.8GHz and try to OC it if you want, but no it's not worth buying a 2.10GHz cpu.

Yeah

I do not think that you would see a great difference actually. The performance jump would not be big enoughin my view to be worth the extra investment.

you cant overclock a dell laptop

And no, i dont think its worth it, a PM is already very good at lower clock speeds.

hmm this is one boder of noticability. Its a p-m so given there clock cycle efficiency the 300mhz may be noticable in intense tasks. Since its a laptop i dont imagine your doing intense tasks, so maybe save the cash. Ask your self what is this laptop for?

thanks a lot. appreciate the input. i opted to stay with the 1.8ghz with 1gb ram. since i'm not a gamer and all i'll be doing is simple photo editing, emailing, downloading music, surfing, powerpoint stuff, i think i'll be more than ok. agreed?

you couldnt have overclocked ur laptop and i think that going from a 1.8 to a 2.1 is not worth it i have a 2.0 and i think it might be worth an upgrade to this but a 2.1 is an extra fwe hundred dollars more than a 2.0 for a fraction of performance change. about the overclock ure laptop would probably overheat and blow up and i dont think its even possible

it wouldnt blow up, and you could overclock it some without it overheating too bad, but you cant overclock a dell anyway.

oh dear god no!!!!!
dont buy a DELL!!!!

that aside...i didnt know you could OC a laptop. and no there wouldnt be a big difference in performance.

you cant OC a laptop... at least not a dell

Probably not worth it ... 1.80Ghz is friggen plenty for the series anyways :)

Ya that's plenty fine :)

That depends on what yer using it for and how much you OC by

wait up i thought u couldnt really oc a laptop processor let alone that much
You can OC mobile chips. Just not necesarily with a laptop mobo
