Worthless or NO?

Hey,

I got a Dell Inspiron 2500 laptop from a friend of mine and i just have a couple of questions. As of now the laptop does not want to start i was wondering if that is caused by the system having no hard drive and ram? id like to get this laptop working again im just not sure if i buy ram and a hard drive will it start up? No lights turn on or anything while i have it plug in with a power adapter. I opened it up to make sure nothing else was missing and the CPU is still there.

So what you are saying is that even though you have it plugged in via power adapter, nothing happens?
As in, no lights turn on, no fans spin. nothing?

Correct nothing happens even though i have it plug in with the ac adapter. It just sits there.

I thought this was a cause of it not having ram and a HDD

Does it have the batter/does the battery work alone?
Sounds like the laptop isn't getting any power at all.
So yes, I would say it is worthless unless you wanna try and figure out ways for it to get power.

Most laptops that I have dealt with will not show any life without RAM. Toss some RAM in (should be able to find some pretty cheap just to test), and see if it posts. It does not need a hard drive to post.

Yea, +1 on trying new ram.

Does it not beep at all when you try and power it up?

Does the charger have a light on - if so does it light up when you plug it in?
