Ok i know we have the problem of microsoft ditching xp on July the 5th,but does this mean windows xp is going to stop getting updates?
Any help would be good.
Thanks.

i wouldnt think so, according to microsoft support for xp wont end until 2014, so i would assume they'll continue with updates

they may stop production or retail sale of xp, but support will continue

Support for Windows XP without a service pack ended on September 30, 2004 and support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 and 1a ended on October 10, 2006.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 will be retired on July 13, 2010, almost six years after its general availability. As per Microsoft's posted timetable, the company will stop general licensing of Windows XP to OEMs and terminate retail sales of the operating system on June 30, 2008, 17 months after the release of Windows Vista. However, an exception was announced on April 3, 2008, for OEMs installing to subnotebooks or UMPCs either until June 30, 2010, or one year after the availability of the next client version of Windows, code-named Windows 7 — whichever date comes later.

On April 14, 2009, Windows XP will begin its "Extended Support" period that will last for 5 years until April 8, 2014.

I still use Windows 2000 as a main OS on my messenger PC and that still gets updates, however, I am considering sticking XP on it.

support for 2000 ends next year i think, its a good os like a mix between xp and 98. ME was the last OS to expire... microsoft wanted to get their hands off that train wreck asap.
