when my new dell comes in, would it be idiotic to downgrade to XP, or would it be a good idea, like would it make it faster? I have a barebones XP cd where it just installs necessary items, or should i just keep the vista?

wouldnt i need a separate harddrive to do this, because my bf does the same thing, he has 2 harddrives, 1 is for XP and the other is vista and another question is, would my video card do good for some gaming? like for burnout paradise, wow, and etc, its a radeon HD 2400 i believe

Depends on who makes that card. No make of that card is that good but some makes are better then others. Vista is fine as long as your computer has the recommended requirements to run it. Vista has the nice sidebar gadgets also.

Vista is:
-Badly coded
-Buggy
-Bloated
-Seriously lacking drivers

XP:
-Isn't

Sure XP is good for old computers, but if your getting a new computer then every single problem you listed will not be present.

Besides, XP won't be able to utilize half of what Vista can.

i have vista on my laptop, xp on my desktop. I fi had a choice, i would prly get 64 bit vista, so i can have more memory. It's not bad it's just some things are different with vista than on xp. Takes a little getting used to.

I would just keep vista if i were you though. The computer you have will be plenty fine with vista. Buy a new graphics card and your set

The reason why xp isn't badly coded, buggy, bloated, and seriously lacking drivers coz it took 6 yrs and still running for microsofts to fix all that problem. Let see first is sp1 then sp2 and now sp3 and still people have problem with xp. XP still crash. People who like xp coz they spend all their softwares running xp and now they have to upgrade and that mean they have to learn everything over again.

Vista: Does xp have a partition wizard to partition your hard drive or you have to use third party. vista partition wizard can shrink or extend your hdd partition. This tool is the best to use without spending any money to purchase third party software.

personally, i wouldn't, i like vista, xp just seems old to me, and 2600ghz, i see you're still living in the day of vista launch

Ok feel free mock me and flame me but personally i prefer XP over Vista its what im use to it what i like and i personally believe its alot better but to be honest after some research into i have discovered Vista isn't that bad but its not good either

atm thou if you don't have a vista license already don't buy one i would wait until Win 7 comes out it seems better then Vista and is more future proof

Vista SP1 is:
-a bit Bloated

XP:
-less but still bloated

fixed that for ya

actually XP does have a partition manager, it just lacks the extend/shrink ability but is more or less the same as Vista's.

Gee, another one using a ten year old printer. :P
As much as i loved XP/SP2, it's a thing of the past. Great though to have on older systems.

Decent hardware + Vista SP1 = win :)
