You don't need to overclock that CPU to run Battlefield 2142 to run it on max. I have the same cpu with 1gb but my Video card is 7900 gt and motherboard ASUS P5NSLI. Have you even try to play it on max?

What resolution you looking at playing?

Also games like Battefield are mostly affected by video card and amount of RAM.
Battefield will work better with 2GB but it'll work with 1GB nonetheless.

Overclocking your CPU won't help BF2142 much. Right now, the main performance limiter on your computer would be the 7900GS; after that would be the 1GB of memory (as apposed to 2GB). Overclocking your 7900GS would help your performance, contrary to who told you it wouldn't.

However, you can still overclock your CPU; it will possibly help a little, mainly in Benchmark performance, etc.

ok.
i prolly will add another stick on ram, even though it might end up being 3gigs total, i got 2x512's.

but ill over clock the card, maybe the cpu cause ive always wanted to.
then work on buying ram.

i try playing 2142 on max but i load a server and then it kicks me off at thedesktop with a blue desktop and i drag a window around and behind it is my wallpaper.

thanks

That doesn't really sound like a performance issue, unless your graphics card is overheating..

Like I stated before you current setup is not stopping you from running that game on max. The issue your having is just the game it self. Check out the Battlefield forums. Many have and had that issue including my self. Try turning off voip (Voice-Over-Internet Protocol ) on your settings and see if it helps. I would get 1 more gb of ram but that should not stop you from playing at max unless you have many programs running in your background.

If you overclock both your CPU and GPU a significant amount, you will notice a pretty significant improvement.
