Would overclocking my cpu help?

Would overclocking a i7 2700k give me any gains while gaming?
gtx 580 is my gpu, not sure if the gpu will bottleneck or what.

Plan on overclocking it to 4ghz but if the 500mhz increase only gives me an extra 2fps average ill just not do it.

Two aspects to the answer.

It depends on the game. If you are maxing out Flight SimX on a smaller resolution you would probably see a significant gain. Secondly that CPU would reach 5GHz on air easy.
